YouTube’s new AR feature lets you virtually try on makeup while watching videos – TechCrunch

Image
Earlier this summer, YouTube announced its plans for a new AR feature for virtual makeup try-on that works directly in the YouTube app. Today, the first official campaign to use the “ Beauty Try-On” feature has now launched , allowing viewers to try on and shop lipsticks from MAC Cosmetics from YouTube creator Roxette Arisa’s makeup tutorial video. While a lipstick try-on feature isn’t exactly groundbreaking — plenty of social media apps offer a similar filter these days — it could lead to more complex AR makeup integrations further down the road. The new AR feature only works when you’re watching the video from a mobile device, and the YouTube app is updated to the latest version. Then, when watching the video, you’ll see a button that says “try it on” which will launch the camera in a split-screen view. The video will continue to pl...

JASON HETHERINGTON Who has time to put in all the effort it takes to get skin so perfect it looks like glass? The poreless, luminous complexion that took over the Interwebs a few years ago is old news. The new thinking: Fake it til you make it with glass makeup . These lip, cheek, and face products have a reflective finish that’s chicer than the glittery glosses and highlighters of yore. Plus, the shine they deliver will detract from any complexion imperfections (if you consider them imperfections, that is). Strategic, no? Gloss Boss Matte had its moment and, let’s be honest, it wasn’t super flattering. “Those flat lip colors settle into the little lines and look all crackly,” says New York City–based makeup artist Nam Vo. “I’d rather lips look like juicy candy.” Click through for our favorite products to get the look. 1 of 13 Unreal High Shine Volumizing Lip Gloss Hourglass sephora.com ...
