SoundCloud is expanding its Creator Education Program with the launch of SC101 – a new video and live event series. Presented by SoundCloud employees, SC101 rolls out with a nine part, two-minute video series which is available now on SoundCloud. Each video in the series breaks down a key topic, with step-by-step product walk-throughs and tips. Soundcloud says that the topics covered in SC101 are curated from its 20 million plus creator community and employees. The initial slate of videos cover topics such as profile development, tagging tracks, and sharing work effectively. More advanced subjects, including monetization and distribution, will follow later this year in the series’ second instalment. The tutorial, titled “ iJustine Teaches FCP X ,” shows how Justine Ezarik uses Apple’s video editing software to produce content. Offering a view of her end-to-end workflow for creating videos, the tutorial is split up into 16 lessons covering each step in her editing process. The lessons include how to import and organize media performing multi-camera editing, adding b-roll and music, color correction, adding titles and effects to a clip, and preparing the video for export to YouTube, among other topics. Earlier this summer, YouTube announced its plans for a new AR feature for virtual makeup try-on that works directly in the YouTube app. Today, the first official campaign to use the “ Beauty Try-On” feature has now launched , allowing viewers to try on and shop lipsticks from MAC Cosmetics from YouTube creator Roxette Arisa’s makeup tutorial video. Makeup tutorials are hugely popular on YouTube, so an integration where you can try on the suggested looks yourself makes a ton of sense. While a lipstick try-on feature isn’t exactly groundbreaking — plenty of social media apps offer a similar filter these days — it could lead to more complex AR makeup integrations further down the road. The new AR feature only works when you’re watching the video from a mobile device, and the YouTube app is updated to the latest version. Pokémon Masters is the newest Pokémon game coming to mobile devices and it’s already reached an astounding 5 million pre-registrations. The game, which is already available in beta form in a few countries, will be getting a global release sometime before the end of the Summer. Also worth noting is that the pre-registrations are across both Android and iOS devices worldwide, not just one platform or region. That being said, 5 million pre-registrations is no small accomplishment. The game can already be played by gamers in Singapore, and Canada. Which means most or all pre-registration users are those who have yet to play the game. You can however easily get around the region-locking of the beta by using a VPN while you play, which is a simple enough process. A US district judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Ubisoft against music tutorial service Yousician. The French publishing giant said that the Finland-based education platform was infringing on IP relating to its Rocksmith game-slash-guitar-tutorial-software, namely US patent 9,839,852 for ‘Interactive Guitar Game’. This was filed in August 2015 and ultimately granted in December 2017.  The United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina’s Western Division dismissed the case with prejudice on Friday, August 9th, meaning that Ubisoft is restricted from filing a lawsuit on the same claim. Ubisoft filed the lawsuit in August 2018, alleging that Yousician infringed upon its Rocksmith intellectual property by having users learn an instrument via software. In case your nightmares have gotten a little boring lately, artist and YouTuber Jody Steel has created a truly horrifying makeup tutorial in which she transforms her face and neck into Peppa Pig’s entire body. After she’s done painting, she puts on a thick black headband and turns out the lights, so that Peppa’s haunted figure appears to float midair.  Steel’s YouTube channel is full of similarly disturbing projects, from SpongeBob to Detective Pikachu . To be clear, they are so disturbing because she’s incredibly good at what she does — so keep her videos in mind if you want to get wild at Halloween this year.
